Person in water
At 21:04 on the 17th April 2003 Port Talbot Coastguard while on a visit to Mrcc Swansea were tasked to a female in the sea off Mumbles. While Mumbles Coastguard,Police helicopter WO99 along with Mumbles ILB were also called.Police had seen the person entering the sea via CCTV after a call from a member of the public, but Police units on scene had lost sight of her after she swam out to sea and out of view. Following a search a member of the public heard screams and called the Port Talbot Team.while the Helicopter was guided in to floodlight the area.Fearing she may drown at any second The Port Talbot Station Officer Steve Summerfield and a Police officer entered the sea, and managed to bring the young girl ashore,to a round of applause from the large watching crowd that had gathered. The Casualty was suffering from shock and hypothermia and had swallowed a lot of water.First aid was given on scene before she was taken to Singleton Hospital by Ambulance.
Video shows the girl as a white dot or heat source Then Steve and the Police officer carrying out the rescue and bringing her ashore just before the Mumbles Inshore Lifeboat arrives it was a very quick rescue.
