Vessel Ashore Morfa Beach

In the early hours of the 4th of March a vessel on passage from Portsmouth to Bristol with one person on board decided to putting to Port Talbot due to heavy fog. While off the Morfa Sands the engine failed. The skipper fired off red flares, but because the fog was so thick they were not seen, the skipper mannered to get safely ashore and alert the workers at the Steel Plant.
The Team where called and stood by the vessel Coastguards and Police checked the vessel while the skipper was taken to hospital for a check up. The Port Talbot Marine and Diving Company made an attempt to re-float her on the 5th this was abandoned till the bigger tide on the 7th.Images show Coastguard checking that the gas supply is disconnected and resetting the anchors.
