Port Talbot Coastguard Official Opening and Dedication of new station November 3ed 2001
[ WORK STARTS]

They that go to the sea in ships that do business in great waters. These see the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.
For he commandeth and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths, their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man and are at their wits end
Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble and bringeth them out of their distress.
He maketh the storm a clam,so that the waves thereof are still.
Then they are glad, because they are quiet,so bringeth them unto their desired heaven.
Oh,that men would praise the Lord, for his goodness and his wonderful works to the children of men.
DEDICATION OF THE COASTGUARD STATION
To the honour and the glory of the Almighty God and for the noble purpose of giving assistance to those in peril on the sea,we dedicate this coastguard station in the name of the father and the holy spirit
A PRAYER FOR THE STATION AND THE VOLUNTEER COASTGUARDS
Eternal father you walk upon the wings of the wind ,you make the clouds your chariot, you rule the raging of the sea,you speak and it is still. We pray that your blessing will rest upon this Coastguard station which we now present to you.Grant that this station may always be seen as a sign of vigilance and hope for those in peril on the sea
We commend to you the volunteer Coastguards that man this station. We thank you for the lives which, under your mercy they have saved from injury and death. We pray that they may not trust only their own strength and skill when they go to the rescue of others, but be conscious of your Spirit and comfort and support them.Grant that they may have the reward of the promise,"I tell you this, anything you did for my brothers here, however humble, you did for me".This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
THE LORDS PRAYER
|
1 Eternal Father,strong to save,
Whose arm hath bind the restless wave, Who bidd`st the mighty ocean deep, its own appointed limits keep O here us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea |
2 Saviour whose almighty word,
The winds and waves submissive heard, Who walkest on the foaming deep, O here us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea |
Our brethren shield in dangers hour,
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them whereso`er they go:
This evermore shall rise to thee.
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea
