River Afan Danger to Children

We are very concerned regarding the weir area of the river Afan by Mc Donald's fast food shop. During the summer we have had a word with a number of children some very young, who are swimming under the fish run. The end of this tunnel is fenced off to half way the children swim under this and could become tapped by an incoming tide, there is also the danger of fast water after rain. The new walkway out to the center of the river while it does have warning signs is very easy for children to play on, if they fell during a heavy flood it would carry them over the weir and into turbulent water where even an adult would struggle to get ashore. We feel we must point this out to parents please tell your children to observe the warning signs. Mc Donald's near by is very popular with children and they often eat their meals down by the river and it only takes one slip.see last three photos for high water view
